A life-long resident of Georgia, Melanie earned both a Bachelor and Master’s of Industrial Engineering from the greatest institution on the planet: The Georgia Institute of Technology. Go Yellow Jackets!
Melanie began her professional career in the Productivity group at Delta Air Lines Technical Operations. There, she focused on projects to increase organizational efficiency and productivity: shop floor design, process mapping & improvement, and just-in-time inventory. Over the next 16+ years, Melanie increased her responsibilities and achieved promotions within areas including: Materials Management, Supply Chain, Corporate & Operations Strategy, and Airport Operations. Her final role at Delta was General Manager at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, where she provided oversight of employee services, project management, and all outsourced services at Delta’s major hub.
In 2015, Melanie joined Atlanta Airlines Terminal Corporation (AATC) as a Process Improvement Engineer chiefly responsible for implementation of ISO 55001 standards. She was quickly promoted to a position with oversight of the baggage handling system and winter weather response team. Her responsibility soon grew to include customer experience. In this role, she initialized the use of I0T to monitor condition, performance and customer perception across the public areas of the airport. Under her leadership, AATC achieved 6 straight quarters of improvement in industry-standard measures of customer satisfaction, culminating during her last quarter with the airport’s best-ever score on all measures. Melanie was honored to be recognized as AATC’s 2017 Manage of the Year.
Melanie is active on her local high school’s parent advisory board and with Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. On any given Saturday, she and her husband Jim can probably be found on the sidelines of a local soccer field cheering for one of their 5 daughters.
